The task
The task
It was necessary to finalize and provide technical support for the mobile application. The client defined a range of tasks:
- expand the functionality and optimize the application interface for more convenient use
- integrate this product with the IRBIS system (library automation)
- implement document scanning and digital capture modules
- make it possible to view PDF files in protected mode (no copying or printing)
- make it possible to search and index quickly

Our developers have changed the application's interface, optimizing it to meet the client's requirements, considering their convenience.
Caching technologies and the conversion of PDF files into image format allowed the introduction of a "read-only" mode. An open-source Java application was also set in. Thanks to the developed Flash component, we provide readers with the opportunity to view literary sources in PDF format. At the same time, copying, printing and saving files on external sources are excluded.
With the help of the Apache Lucene text search engine, we have implemented full-text indexing into the system, which allows the reader to search books using the built-in indexing mechanism quickly and get information about the page where the search phrase is located.
Using the capabilities of the SharePoint server, we have created and implemented a module for digital capture and scanning of documents that the application user wants to publish in the electronic library and place in the depository.
We have proposed a solution to the problem of integration with the IRBIS system by developing an appropriate layer in C++, which allows us to convert the document to the desired format.

The ELECTRONIC LIBRARY application that we have finalized successfully involves both staff and users who access the depository via the Internet.
Since the product is designed specifically for the needs of a specific client, we continue to cooperate and make the necessary additions and changes. Also, this product has a universal purpose, so other clients successfully implement it.
